Prevent Blindness North Carolina’s VSP “Sight for Students” program issued approximately 1,600 vision vouchers for free eye exams and glasses to financially needy children in 2009-2010. Vouchers are donated to Prevent Blindness North Carolina by Vision Service Plan.

Prevent Blindness North Carolina’s “Donor Docs” program, a volunteer program of North Carolina eye care providers made 517 eye exams and 395 pairs of glasses available to North Carolina children in 2009-2010.

In 2009-2010 Prevent Blindness North Carolina added the Healthy Eyes Eyeglass Program as a new resource for free glasses. During the 2009-2010 school year, 75 children were served through this program.
